A few months ago, Bill Gates complimented a new startup, Xobni. This lead to rumors of an acquisition by Microsoft and even reports that Xobni turned down a $20 million offer. The subject is popping up again and according to Michael Arrington, two sources have told him the deal “is moving along and that the two companies signed an acquisition LOI (Letter of Intent) in the last week.” The deal makes sense since Xobni’s only product is an outlook plugin that improves the desktop email experience, especially search.
